Women In Worship:
Job Description
In a recent trip to Southern California to visit myfamily I was asked to explain what a worship leader/worship pastor does. I found it difficult to do seeing that my family church background was Methodist –AME. Where would I start and what would be my point of reference. How could I paint the picture in their minds? I found myself over explaining what I did and I thought, I really confused my Aunt who asked the question because my Mom didn't really know what I did. Thank goodness a few of my family members found a worshiping church to fellowship at. I was able to explain what I did by what they had experienced at that church. It wasn't easy but shewas able to see what I did at church. I found that I still did not explain the essence of my job description – the worship of God in the process. This incident sent me into a thought process. How do you explain what you do in laymen terms? After you have figured that out, how do you convey the best part of the job the worshiping of God in all His glory? Here's the topic for discussion in July – How do you explain your job?
Sound Advice:
Microphones in Worship - Part Two - Drums
Proper mic selection and position is the basis for building a solid mix around your drummer. If you start with these basics, you will have a foundation upon which you can begin to layer the rest of the band. Microphone selection
This is a very subjective area, and every engineer (and drummer) has his or her preferences. Here is a list of commonly used mics and their applications, not in any particular order.
Kick Drum: AKG D-112E, or the earlier D-12E.
Snare Drum: Shure SM-57, or SM-56 (same as 57 but has tilt mount), Audio Technica AT-4053, Audix D-3, AKG D-1000E.
Toms: Sennheiser MD-421U, Sennheiser E-604, Shure SM 98 (or 98-A), AKG 408, Ramsa S-5, Audio Technica AT-4053
Overheads-Hi Hat Shure SM-81, AKG 451, or 460, Audio Technica AT-4051. ... for more info go to Sound Advice.

Prayer:
Lord, lead us to do what you have called us to do. Help us to not sway from what is right in our hearts. Help us to lead our people in genuine worship and is pleasing to you. Help us to erase our own agendas and put in place yours. Keep us pure and help us when we are attacked by the enemy. We desire to do what you've called us to do, but we need your strength and guidance to do it.
Focus:
When leading worship or worshiping in your church, tune out everything around you and focus on Him. If you have prepared properly, the result should be free worship with few technical kinks.
